As seasoned travelers, we've just about seen it all – the smooth sailings and the unexpected bumps. One of the secrets to a hassle-free trip is packing smartly. Beyond the usual essentials like clothes, toiletries, and gadgets, there are some underrated items that can make a huge difference in your travel experience, even at an all-inclusive resort! Here’s a list of often-overlooked but incredibly handy items to pack on your next adventure, complete with reasons they might come in handy.
Sewing Kit
A small sewing kit can be a lifesaver. Imagine you’re getting ready for a nice dinner at the resort’s gourmet restaurant, and you notice a button is about to fall off your shirt. Having needles, thread, and a few buttons on hand can keep your wardrobe intact without having to pivot and choose a new outfit!

Roku Streaming Device
Even at an all-inclusive resort, there might be moments when you want to relax in your room with your favorite shows and movies. After a long day of activities, unwind with a Roku streaming device, which allows you to access your streaming services anywhere there’s Wi-Fi and a TV with an HDMI port. It's especially useful if the in-room entertainment options are limited or primarily in a foreign language. These come in extra handy if you are travelling with littles who have certain shows they like to watch when winding down!

Suction Cup Hooks
These versatile hooks can be attached to any smooth surface, making them perfect for hanging wet swimsuits in the bathroom, keeping your bag off the floor, or organizing your toiletries. They’re reusable, take up minimal space in your luggage, and provide extra storage options in your room, which can be particularly useful in smaller spaces.

Clothing Line and Travel Detergent
Even though laundry services are available at most resorts, they can be slow and costly! Having a portable clothing line and travel-sized detergent can be incredibly useful. Hand wash your items in the sink or bathtub and hang them to dry in your room or on your balcony. While this isn't necessarily ideal for all of your clothing, we especially love it for washing our return travel clothes, meaning we only had to pack one set! If you are travelling with children, we all know accidents happen! Sometimes those extra outfits for them go quicker than you imagined and having this option saves the day!
Insulated Cup and Straw
An insulated cup can keep your drinks at the perfect temperature, whether hot or cold. Perfect for long days by the pool or beach, it ensures you always have a refreshing drink on hand. With a lot of resorts altering their straw policies, a reusable straw is an eco-friendly addition, great for sipping cocktails or smoothies without contributing to plastic waste!

Power Strip
Hotel rooms often lack enough outlets for all your devices. After snapping photos all day or working remotely, a compact power strip ensures you can charge everything you need, from phones to laptops, all at once. This is particularly useful if you're sharing a room and need multiple devices charged simultaneously.

STORAGE Bags
Zipper storage bags are incredibly versatile. Use them to organize toiletries, keep electronics dry by the pool, store snacks for excursions, or hold wet swimsuits after a dip in the ocean. They’re lightweight, reusable, and can save you from many potential messes, such as preventing leaks from toiletries or keeping sand out of your gadgets.

Whether you get a small cut on a nature hike or a headache from too much sun, being prepared for minor injuries or illnesses can prevent a small issue from becoming a trip-ruiner. It’s always better to be safe and have the essentials on hand.

Scissors
A small pair of scissors can be surprisingly useful. From opening stubborn packaging to trimming loose threads on your clothes, they’re a practical addition that often gets overlooked. Please note that if you are only bringing a carry on, the blade portion of your scissors need to be 4" or under.

Folding Storage Bins
These can help keep your hotel room organized. Use them to store clothes, accessories, or even as a laundry basket. They fold flat, taking up minimal space in your luggage, and can keep your room tidy, making it easier to find what you need. This is particularly useful if you’re staying for an extended period and want to keep your space uncluttered.

Dish Soap and Sponge
While at a resort you might not need these for washing a full sink of dishes, but a small bottle of dish soap and a sponge can be useful for cleaning reusable water bottles or travel mugs! After a few fruity cocktails, these items can start to need a little more than a quick rinse. Please note that if travelling with a carry on, dish soap is subject to the 3-1-1 rule and should not exceed 3 oz. Don't want to worry about toting around a bottle of dish soap? We love this hack!
Medication
Besides your regular medications, pack a small supply of common remedies like anti-diarrhea tablets, allergy medicine, and motion sickness pills. Being prepared for common ailments can keep you on your feet and enjoying your trip, whether you’re exploring the local area, participating in water sports, or indulging in the resort’s activities. Medications purchased at the resort's gift shop will often be significantly more expensive than purchasing prior to your travels! We particularly love these pocket pharmacy organizers that can cut down on you having to bring the full box with you!
