After being closed for over a year, Disneyland Resort in California reopened on April 30 with limited capacity at Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park. On June 15. Disneyland reopened to out-of-state visitors for the first time since March 2020, six weeks after the resort reopened to California residents.
The Pixie Planner team has been to the parks multiple times since the re-opening of Disneyland and we can tell you that the magic is still there and we have all of the tips and tricks. Here are a few:
-There is an all-new mandatory reservation system for entering your first park of the day. This must be booked in advance. Park-hopping has resumed if you hold a ticket with a Park-Hopper. You can start park-hopping after 1 PM each day.
-Disneyland has eliminated on-site temperature checks and is allowing guests to "self-determine" social distancing since the state has removed distancing requirements. Masks are still required on Disney transportation.
-Disneyland has resumed their nightly fireworks shows and it is one of our favorites at the moment - Mickey's Mix Magic! This one is one you don't want to miss.
-FastPass Disney MaxPass service is not currently available in Disneyland or California Adventure, but the lines have been doing great even without this service. We noticed that most times the times posted were a lot longer than we actually waited.
-Characters are still out and about, but in distanced photo locations where you can take pictures at a distance. We actually noticed there are a lot more characters out because of this! There were even mini-parades during the day in Disneyland.
-Dining reservations are available at most dining locations, but go VERY quickly due to limited seating. Grabbing these the day they open is very important.
-Marvel's Avenger's Campus is NOW OPEN in California Adventure and does not require a reservation or boarding pass to enter the land. The Spiderman's Web Slinger ride does require a virtual queue boarding pass.
-You do NOT want to miss out on Mobile Ordering food in the parks! It is the easiest way to skip the lines when grabbing food around lunch and dinner time. The Disneyland App is truly your best friend (other than your Pixie Planner of course!)
